Julia Spangler is a sustainable events consultant that works in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the end of 2019, she wrote these words to show people that making a sustainable event is not as difficult as you think:
"I never thought I would grow up to be a garbage person.
But given how much time I spend helping event organizers reduce, sort, and divert waste, I guess you could say that's what I am.
You know what? I wouldn't change a thing.
Because in 2019, my team and I kept 22,522 pounds of event waste out of landfills and incinerators. That's more than 11 tons of materials reused, donated, recycled, composted, fed to farm animals... in short, put to good use instead of going to waste.
